Centacare acknowledges the vital role of family in whatever shape or form in our lives. Centacare adopts a systems approach to our therapeutic interventions. Family counselling may involve the whole family or parts of it. It helps members of the family be understood by each other and relate to each other in a way that promotes growth, development, and nurturance.
Centacare offers counselling services for children and adolescents. Our service philosophy acknowledges the importance of parents and significant others in children’s lives and they are actively encouraged to be part of the counselling process.
Centacare is approved by the Federal Attorney General’s Department to provide family dispute resolution under the Family Law Act. Our family dispute resolution practitioners assist separating or separated families in resolving post separation matters such as parenting and property & financial settlement. Our family dispute resolution is child-focused and often child-inclusive.
In partnership with Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst (CEDB), the School Wellbeing Program is a service offered by Centacare to foster the wellbeing of students, staff and school communities across the 33 Diocesan schools. It aims to support school communities in improving and enhancing the conditions for learning for all students. Counsellors play an important role in the School Wellbeing Program through professional support that may include short term one-to-one counselling, group program facilitation and parent/caregiver meetings and workshops. Support is also available for critical incidents and case management.
Counsellors work closely with school leaders, staff, parents and caregivers to ensure all students have access to support founded on a universal and unconditional positive regard for children and young people.
Referrals are necessary to access the School Wellbeing Program via the school.
We provide children, young people, parents, carers and grandparents a range of activities in schools, early childhood services and the community.
